Terryl

Whitlatch

Terryl Whitlatch is an internationally recognized creature designer for film, animation, and publishing. Captivated by the animals around her at the time, Terryl began drawing at the age of three when she was first able to hold a crayon and has been in love with art ever since. In university, Terryl was trained academically as a paleo-reconstructionist, which, combined with her artistic skills, made her an ideal creature designer. She started in 1984 at Lucasfilm and Industrial Light and Magic, where she worked on many films, including acting as Principal Creature Designer for Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace. She has since worked on many other films and projects, authored several books about creature design, including The Wildlife of Star Wars, The Katurran Odyssey, and Animals Real and Imagined, and created an online resource for creature design, talesofamalthea.com
