Murray

Sean Andrew Murray is a freelance illustrator, concept artist, author and teacher who has worked in the entertainment industry for over fifteen years.

The bulk of his career was spent as a video game concept artist, working on such titles as “Dungeons & Dragons Online,” “The Lord of the Rings Online,” “Ultima Online”, “Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning” as well as a couple of unreleased projects at Harmonix Music Systems.

His freelance client list includes: Dreamworks Television (“Trollhunters”, “3 Below”, “Wizards”), Legendary Pictures (“Carnival Row”), Disney-HyperionPublishing (“Trollhunters” book), Meridian Entertainment/Travis Beacham (writer of Pacific Rim), Illumination Entertainment, Sideshow Collectibles, DC/Vertigo Comics, Wizards of the Coast, Lego, EA Games, CoolMiniOrNot, Privateer Press, Fantasy Flight Games, White Wolf Games, KREATOR, ImagineFX magazine, Steve Jackson Games, FableVision and 3DTotal.

Sean was the Gold-Medal award winner in the “Concept Art” category for the 24th annual “Spectrum: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art” competition. Additionally, his work has been chosen for the past 11 Spectrum annuals, and he has been nominated twice for a prestigious Chesley Award.

The production of Sean’s illustrated fantasy book, “Gateway: The Book of Wizards,” was funded by a successful 2012 Kickstarter campaign. The book was a primer for a fantasy world centered on a vast city called “Gateway”, which has also been developed into a series of collectible sketchbooks, and a board-game called “Gateway: Uprising.” Sean is currently developing several new projects for Gateway, including a graphic novel.

Sean also teaches Illustration and Visual Development at Ringling College of Art and Design and his original art has been featured in galleries such as Copro in Santa Monica and Nucleus in Alhambra.
