Production designer/concept artist, Paul Lasaine began his film career as a matte artist at Disney Studios in the late ‘80s. He provided matte paintings for dozens of live-action feature films, and would go on to head up the Disney Matte Department until he left the company in 1995. He then joined the newly formed DreamWorks Animation, where he worked on and off for the next seventeen years as a visual-development artist, background painting supervisor, art director, and production designer. In 1999, Paul relocated to New Zealand for two years to work on Peter Jackson’s, The Lord of the Rings trilogy as a concept artist and art director. Since then, Paul has been focusing on design for feature animation. Recent projects include: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (Sony); Storks (Warner Bros.); The Boxtrolls (Laika), for which he won an Annie Award. Paul is currently the production designer on Marvel Studios’ first animation project, What If…?
